The Advocacy Accelerator is a hub for professional advocates to learn from one another and our team of seasoned government relations professionals. We offer online and in-person opportunities and free resources and tools built by award-winning policy advocates to empower bold and better health care advocacy. The three offerings of the Advocacy Accelerator are:

  1. Online Courses:
    We offer two virtual courses—
    • The Art of Advocacy—our free four-part course for professional advocates to help them prioritize and advance their policy issues
    • The Advocacy Academy—a low-cost 60-minute course to teach nonprofessional advocates/volunteers the basics of advocacy so organizations can focus more on training their advocates about their specific policy issues
  2. Resources: Downloadable free resources ranging from CURA’s stakeholder mapping process to our issue prioritization rubric and Capitol Corner newsletter
  3. Community: Opportunities to meet with other professional health care advocates

The audience for this community is professionals who work in the health care advocacy space. Although most of our content is related to health policy advocacy, there are resources here for professionals and executives who operate campaigns related to patient advocacy more broadly, such as disease awareness, peer support, research, etc.

Side note, we have a particular soft spot for strategic communications professionals and senior executives who find themselves thrust into policy advocacy and whose only recent experience with government is watching HBO’s Veep. Policy and patient advocacy provides rich opportunities to build your brand reputation, but it can be intimidating for communicators to know how and where to engage. We can help! Almost all of the resources on this page are free to access. Once you provide your email address, you can access the resources and apply to be a part of the Advocacy Accelerator community. The one exception is the Advocacy Academy, our 60-minute 9-lesson course designed to prepare your volunteers or nonprofessional advocates to share their experience with policymakers. This is available via subscription and the price varies depending on how many seats you need.
